Developing Your Essay Writing

Developing Your Essay Writing If you want to write in another language, you need to practice in creative ways every day. For example, you could start a blog, create fun poems or text a friend. Does every sentence end with a punctuation mark ? Reading the text backwards make you focus on the rules of grammar instead of the flow of the sentence. As you learn the English language, make a serious effort to practice your grammar and sentence structure. One way to spot improper grammar in your own writing is to read each sentence backwards . Lastly, there are some fantastic online resources that can help improve your writing. For instance,Hemingway Editorcan review your document to find any confusing or wordy sentences. If you choose to use a printed copy of your writing, you might find it useful to use a different pen so that the corrections and alterations are clearly visible. Check sentence structure, spelling and punctuation as you revise. It’s difficult to undo the damage caused by a lifetime of writing improperly. Think about how you are going to organise each paragraph. So instead of constantly saying, “Add the tomato” and “add the eggs,” a thesaurus will teach you to say things like “whisk in the eggs” or “gently fold in the tomatoes.” See? It sounds a lot better and adds interest to your essay. For example, if you’re writing about cooking, the words “stir” and “add” might come up a lot. Is everything in the correct tense (past, present, future, etc.)? If you’re writing about plurals, are the possessive nouns plural? You also need to check spelling, sentence structure and punctuation. Correct all of these on your first draft unless you are making drastic changes which require a significant amount of rewriting. This way, you won’t be fooled by how the words sound when you read them in your head. Proper grammar is difficult for even the most fluent English speakers. Because you are learning English, you actually have an advantage. Many native speakers learned improper grammar from the start. Meet up with a friend who is fluent in English . This friend can edit your essay and point out any repetitive errors. My third guideline for writing an essay is to use a plan. Once you've done all your reading, once you've done all your research you need to step back from it and decide what you're going to say. As I've said before the most important thing in an essay is to come up with a clear line of argument and it's important to tell the reader about that right at the beginning. So set out your plan for the essay at the outset and then use the rest of the essay to actually build up your argument. What this video to find out how to create the basic structure that all essays share. Linking words are very useful in creating cohesion and 'flow' in your writing. Without them, your assignment will read like a series of sentences that do not flow or present a logical argument. We understand that students may be afraid of ordering online assignments due to the risks of being revealed. Neither third-parties nor your professor will know that we wrote your essay.

Well, you shouldn’t write about a community-service initiative just because you think it’s what admissions wants to hear. Some essays about volunteer efforts inevitably come off as inauthentic . A good way to tie all the points together throughout the body section is to have them all clearly state how they support the thesis statement. That way it is obvious that all of your paragraphs tie together. Note that the first sentence of the paragraph may satisfy both goals. That is, you may have a topic sentence that also serves to transition well. Another option is to have a transition sentence first and then a separate topic sentence following it. The more objective and unbiased the opinions presented, the more credible the essay. Supportive facts, examples, statistics, expert opinions and other elements are key to making the essay a success. What exactly is the difference between an analytical essay and an evaluation essay? Well, the latter moves beyond simply explaining what the subject is or how it works and delves into how valuable it is. An essay differs from other projects both within and beyond academia in the sense that you need to come up with a product of your own unique creativity. Here, you have an avenue of expressing your personal view on something that you have observed, read about or experienced. Therefore try as much as possible to remain meticulous in your review. Remember, you do not have to be verbose to make the essay clear and interesting. If what you are writing about is a unique experience, try to use ordinary events to describe it. This tends to be more informal and will contain narrative aspects as well as some entertainment value. Remember, this is a skill that you will draw from in future, whether you take on writing as a career or pursue a different professional route. Therefore, practice the art of getting your objectives right from the beginning before embarking on the project. Why I cannot send you PDFs of my books

In recent days, Ive received an  increasing number of emails  from people  in various countries requesting PDF  versions  of my books, often for free. Their reasons range from the perfectly valid to the somewhat  questionable to the frankly clueless. Unfortunately,  I cannot accommodate these requests, no matter how compelling the reasons. Let me explain. I am not denying these requests for the sake of being difficult, or stingy, or cold-hearted. Rather, the reasons have to do with the logistics and economics of self-publishing in the digital age. First, my SAT grammar book (albeit the original version) is available for  Kindle download  through Amazon. Im not sure what the international restrictions are, if any, but in theory it should be downloadable from just about anywhere. As for  The Critical Reader,  I  am legally prohibited from distributing it  electronically. The book contains passages taken from a number of  copyrighted sources, and in order to include them, I had to obtain  legal permission  from various rights holders   a process that  involved dozens of emails, several thousand dollars, and, in several cases, waiting periods upwards of six months. Most of the contracts granting me the reprint rights to the passages  stipulate that I may only distribute  a print version of the book. Sending out PDFs of the book would be a breach of contract on my end, and  could result in my being sued for  thousands or even millions of dollars. In addition, please consider this: my books represent months and in some cases years of work.  They are the result of thousands literally, thousands of hours of unpaid work. The second I put my   in someone elses hands I lose control over its distribution. It takes half a second to hit the forward button and send a PDF to someone else, who in turn sends it to another couple of people, who all send it to another couple of people, on of whom  posts the entire 380-page file  on College Confidential for free download as Ive seen happen with other books. Aside from the lost royalties, when (if)  I discover that my books have been distributed on the Internet and do nothing, I am at risking for losing my copyright that is, I could potentially lose the rights to my own work, which I spent all of those years producing. In order to protect it, I have no choice but to take very expensive legal action. I  am in the process of investigating ebook options. If I am able to find a relatively straightforward means of having a secure electronic version of  The Critical Reader created, then it may be worthwhile for me to go back to the various publishers I am beholden to and request electronic rights. But that will be a longterm process.  In the meantime, there are  risks I simply cant afford to take.

After his competition of Westminster School, he was admitted to Christ Church, Oxford. Although a Locke was a b right and capable student, he became irritated by the undergraduate curriculum of the time. After finding works of modern philosophers, such as Rene Descartes, in which he found to be far more interesting than the material that was being taught at the university, he began to start focusing on philosophy. In 1656, Locke was awarded a bachelor’s degree in medicine, and two years later in 1658 he was awarded his master’s degree. Having studied medicine during his time at Oxford, Locke worked with noted scientists and thinkers such as Robert Boyle, Thomas Willis, Robert Hooke, and Richard Lower. Explaining A Concept Essay Example For Students

Explaining A Concept Essay BIPOLAR DISORDER1Bipolar Disorder, often called Manic Depression, is a medical condition thatinvolves severe mood swings in an individual. It is a lifetime condition that needs to betreated to keep it in remission (APA). It is not just a mental illness, but a medical diseaseinvolving the brain. 2The disease progresses as the years pass and the frequency of mood changingepisodes becomes more frequent (MHN). Bipolar Disorder involves depressive and manicphases. With the symptoms presented, clinicians often misdiagnose patients asschizophrenics (Shalala). 3Bipolar affects an individuals thoughts, feelings, health, behavior and ability tofunction. The disease is not a result of a weak personality, as many people believe. Instead, it is a medical condition where there is an instability in the transmission of nerveimpulses of the brain (neurotransmitters) that signal appropriate moods (NDMDA). Thebipolar patient responds with inappropriate mood swings independent of what is going onaround them (APA). Bipolar compromises the judgment of those that suffer from it. Some even experience hallucinations (Shalala). 4The disease of bipolar itself is classified as Type I and Type II. Type I are thosethat have had prior episodes of mania. One percent of Americans are diagnosed with this. Type II are those that have hypomania phases only (Shalala). A very small percentage (.6)of Americans have Type II. 5Bipolar disorder affects men and women equally. There is no discrimination whenit comes to mental illness (MDA). Cycling is defined by the shifts from one phase toanother. Women are more prone to the more rapid cycling. This is due to the differenthormone changes in the female body. A male is apt to cycle every two to four years, whilea female may cycle four or more times annually (Shalala). 6The best way to understand bipolar is to learn about the different phases that anindividual experiences. There are four different phases: depressive, manic, hypomaniaand mixed episode (APA). 7The depressive phase can last for several months. The patient will show depressedbehavior daily, weight loss, diminished pleasure, fatigue, feelings of worthlessness, lack ofconcentration, restlessness, insomnia or hypersomnia (over sleeping), impaired functioningand suicidal thoughts. These symptoms are present without any evidence of drug oralcohol abuse (Long). Any thoughts of death or suicide should be taken seriously. 8The word mania comes from the French and means crazed or frenzied (Shalala). In the manic phase, the individual sleeps only a few hours, yet is feels perfectly rested. They tend to be talkative, distracted and overly goal-oriented. Unfortunately, they seldomfollow through with their goals. Pleasurable activities become very important, particularlythose that involve high risk. The ego becomes inflated beyond reality and their thoughtsand ideas race continuously (Long). 9Hypomania is a much milder form of mania. In this phase, the individual can easilyfall into a deep depression or escalate into full-blown mania (APA). 10The last phase, mixed episode, is when an individual shows symptoms from bothmanic and depressive phases. 11There are many different theories on what causes bipolar disorder. There seems tobe a connection with family prevalence. Those with a parent with the disorder have a onein seven chance of being bipolar themselves. An earlier age of onset is typical in thesecases. the typical age of onset is adolescent and earlier adulthood (Shalala). 12Other probable causes are biochemistry, biological clocks and psychological stress. It is known that those with bipolar disorder are more vulnerable to emotional and physicalstress (APA). 13The diagnosis of bipolar disorder typically takes up to eight years. Cliniciansmistakenly diagnose depression, anxiety, schizophrenia or paranoia. Inappropriatetreatments only make the disorder worse. Anti-depressants lift the patient into the manicphase and anti-anxiety drugs such as Valium or Xanax depress the patient. Psychotherapyalone does not help (Shalala). .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b , .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b .postImageUrl , .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b , .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b:hover , .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b:visited , .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b:active { border:0!important; } .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b:active , .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u385ad3b1f96b4eb9606c9a0fb0a8e63b:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Alexander The Great Essay14There are solutions for the bipolar patient. Education is the most important. Notonly the patient needs to be educated, but also those close to them. Understanding whysomeone is bipolar and what symptoms to watch for is the first step in helping theindividual get better and maintain a healthy balance (Francell). 15Medications are prescribed to the patients to balance the chemicals in the brain. The most prescribed drug is Lithium. It acts as a mood stabilizer and is often used inconjunction with an anti-depressant such as Paxil or Zoloft. Other mood Stabilizers areTegretol and Depakote. These medications require close monitoring of the levels in theblood to prevent toxicity (Parikh). Medications are most likely needed for a lifetime tomaintain remission (APA). 16When medications fail to work, electoconvulsive therapy is appropriate. Far frombeing cruel and inhuman, the electric currents have shown positive responses in patients(Parikh). 17Psychotherapy in conjunction with medication is a useful aid in helping bipolarsdeal with emotional and physical stresses. The years lost to the disorder before diagnosiscan be dealt with. Support groups also help the individual share the fears and concerns(Francell). 18Proper treatment of bipolar disorder prevents suicide, substance abuse andsocial/personal problems. Lab Report on Ideal Gas Law Paper We then poured the water back into the test tube and placed the tube into the bucket with the opening upwards, turning the open end downwards after the tube was fully submerged beneath he surface. We then placed the canister directly below the opening of the test tube, and released the gas so that the bubbles rose into the test tube. Next, we used a cork whose head was larger than the opening of the test tube to block off the opening (without changing the pressure inside of the tube), so that we could transport the remaining water to a graduated cylinder. When doing this, it was very important that the water level inside of the tube was equal to that of the surrounding water in the bucket, because that ensured that since the eater pressure in the tube was the same as that of the surrounding water, the pressure of the gas would be the same as that of the surrounding air. Thus, we recorded the gas pressure to be the same as the pressure in the room, which was calculated to be 763. 0 meg. We poured the remaining water from the test tube into a graduated cylinder to calculate the difference between the original water volume and the volume remaining, because this difference was equal to the volume of the gas released. Next, we blow-dried and shook the canister to get rid the extra mass that would eave been added by any water that had clung onto it while it was in the bucket, and weighed the canister again. We subtracted this mass from the original mass of the canister to find out the mass of gas released. ICC) from the total pressure of the gas (763. 0 meg). With the pressure of the unknown gas lone, we were ready to plug our values into the IV=nor equation. Solving for n, we were able to determine how many moles of the gas we had used, so we only had to divide the mass of gas used by the moles to calculate the molar mass of the gas (in grams per mole). With the molar mass of the gas, we were able to identify the gas. 2. Results: Below are the values we recorded for each step in the experiment, as well as the calculations we made to come up with the molar mass of the unknown gas. Thus, the unknown gas was butane, CHICHI, whose molar mass is about 58. G/ mol. 3. Discussion: The theory behind our experiment was to find each necessary factor in the simplest, most accurate way. The most difficult part was figuring out how to catch all of the gas that we released, and to measure the volume of that gas precisely. The method we used was very effective because we were able to see the movement of the gas, and we were therefore able to control its entry into the test tube. Our results were pretty accurate, but there was some room for error. Below are the calculations for the percent error of our molar mass assortment. Some of the sources of error came from possible procedural problems, while others came due to the theoretical limitations of the experiment. One of the procedural difficulties we may have encountered was that there might have still been some water left on the canister when we weighed it the second time. Because the second mass of the canister would have the added mass of the water, the difference between the original mass and the mass after the gas had been released would have been smaller. Thus, we would have recorded a lower ass of gas released, so the molar mass calculation would have been lower because the numerator of the equation would have been smaller. Perhaps we could have blow-dried the canister for a longer period of time until we were absolutely sure that no water remained. Another procedural problem was the balance we used. Because it only measures to the hundredths place, we recorded the mass of the gas released to only one significant figure. Because of this, we were limited to only one significant figure in our calculation of the molar mass, so although we would have had an answer of 52. G/mol, we had to round down to 50 g/mol, which led to a greater percent error. The theoretical difficulties arose because we were applying the ideal gas law to a real gas. So, for example, while ideal gas particles have elasticity and dont lose speed or energy when they collide, the particles of a real gas do lose energy and speed, and this decrease leads to lower pressure. Also, ideal gases do not have any intermolecular forces, and the volume of the particles of an ideal gas can be ignored, but with a real gas, the particle size makes a difference. Because butane molecules are so large ND exist in a state very close to liquid form, we know that there are very strong dispersion forces holding the molecules together. Larger molecules have more momentary dipoles, and thus a stronger attraction, so because the molecules are held so close together, the volume we recorded was smaller than it would have been if butane were an ideal gas. However, despite these errors, our calculated molar mass was not very far from the actual molar mass of butane gas, so we did a relatively good job of controlling these variables that could have greatly affected our results.

Good Ancestors Like Dandelions essays

Good Ancestors Like Dandelions essays Urban sprawl is not a new phenomenon, and the battle between environmentalists and developers is well-known. But perhaps the issue is not that the land is being utterly stripped of life and replaced by cookie cutter houses or factories, which has been a controversy for decades. Perhaps the fighting has exposed a deeper problem: the American acceptance of a false outside, seen through lawns that mimic interiors. People often perceive that any green space is nature. As Michael Ventura says, America is form opposed to content (216). Contractors leave some existing trees on lots not because it may be costly to remove them but because those trees also serve as a selling feature for the houses built between. Most people would rather spend their weekends at an official, regulated and landscaped park rather than hiking through some un-named forest track. While there is the standard human desire for new experiences, people often are only willing to try pre-tested experiences. Even when one realizes the societal manipulation, it still seems difficult to jump over the railings and really cut a new So if people are aware that theyre being led by the nose through a sterile, pre-chewed and mocked-up environment, why dont they respond? Heres why: People are simply cannot deal with vast expanses of "nothing." Afterall, it is more or less the American motto to tame the wilderness, to take what the land has to offer and use it to better the standard of human living. Just being there, a more Eastern philosophy, seems only a waste of both money and resources to American thinking. The court system has even ruled several times along the lines that a loss of open space amounts to an insignificant impact to dissuade new housing developments (Preservation Groups Lose Favor). The planet alone has been deemed worthless without us, a belief ...

Consumer Psychology and Buying Behaviour Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words

Consumer Psychology and Buying Behaviour - Essay Example On the other hand, the marketers need to incorporate their understanding in the involvement principle into the marketing campaigns in order to assist the consumer in their buying decision behavior. The marketing model that is most used by marketers has two distinctive parts. The first part entails a description of a population of ‘consumers’ who individual choose to buy various competing brands over and over again. The second one entails brand management especially when changing the attributes of a brand like the price, or quality in response to events in the marketplace. Several factors have been said to influence marketing. Once a company has carried out efficient marketing research, it is important to ensure that it introduces the approved product and/or service for the market. Location or place is an imperative aspect of marketing where products and or services are distributed. Marketing also entails promotion of products by given companies. It is used to inform cust omers about the new product that the company intends to bring into the market. The market must be dominated by the element of value for products and services. Most potential consumers tend to buy products or services sold at low prices. Loyalty denotes the likeliness of some consumers to stick to the same products. This serves as the key effect and determinism in the market. Psychology entails how and in what ways aspects of the actual products and /or services in the market influences people to make their choices, by possibly buying a product that is different from the previous one. Sociology entails the manner in which one person‘s buying is influenced by that of others. In essence, there is the tendency of people willing to buy the same brands as others leading to a lock in one product that dominates the market without even considering the fact that the competitors have more or less identical ‘qualities’ that may include price. Introduction Marketing is the sel ling of products and services to potential clients in a given environment at a given time. It basically entails the potential clients that are available and how to handle them. Hence, customer psychology and buying behaviour is necessary in any marketing plan because, clients are the most important elements in growth of businesses. Without marketing, potential customers are not able to learn about the existence of products and services they miss, and this leads to lack of success in business (Kinley et al 2010). Essentially, the large part of the marketing focuses on consumer behavior. Thus, application of psychology acts as a paradigmatic influence in explaining human behavior in terms of consumer perceptions and preferences of certain products and services. On the other hand, the marketers need to incorporate their understanding in the involvement principle into the marketing campaigns in order to assist the consumer in their buying decision behavior. In marketing, most consumer p roducts are designed in the manner that appeals to the customers, encouraging them to buy. Thus, industrial and manufacturer tend to focus more on understanding and manipulating products attributes (Kinley et al 2010). Nether the less, buying behavior is not a function product but also a function of the consumer, the social environment of other customers, the competing products in the marketplace, and the brand marketing strategy. Hence, it is important to first understand the psychology of the consumers, and the sociology of consumer groups or networks. The marketing model that is most used by marketers has two distinctive parts.

Toxic in Homes Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Toxic in Homes - Essay Example The spot remover that supposedly kills bacteria-causing infection such as molds could have effects on the nervous system and could worsen heart ailments and lung conditions. A few dollars spent on diarrhea caused by molds is better than several thousands of dollars spent in treating heart diseases caused by mold-removing chemicals. To top this off, this is not yet looking at those houses located near industrial plants that emit more dangerous chemicals such as arsenic in mines 5 and asbestos in construction sites.   The supposed safeties these chemicals bring in the homes are not worth the risks they cause in the end. People are not without options regarding this matter. Several alternative products could be used and are just as effective while posing fewer dangers. 8 For instance, water-based products are available even in regular stores, and benzyl alcohol is a safer substitute for methylene chloride products.   There is no lack of safer alternatives as they have existed in the market for several years.

Jewish Marriage Essay Example for Free

Jewish Marriage Essay Marriage is a significant part of Judaism bringing together a woman and man under God’s reign. It is the mitzvah (122) â€Å"To marry a wife by means of ketubah and keddushin† (Deut 22:13), all Jewish adherents see marriage as a necessity in order to obey God and to experience the fullness of life. In Genesis God says: â€Å"It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him. † It is a link between individuals and the wider community as it recognises two individuals coming together, celebrated by the wider community. Also the marriage ceremony itself contains symbolic significance to Judaism, conveying Jewish beliefs through symbols, actions and words. The mitzvah of marriage is especially important as it involves what Jews believe to be the purpose of human life: unity to procreate. This belief is modelled by the creation story in Genesis where Adam is made a partner (Eve) through one of his ribs â€Å"For this reason man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife† (Genesis). The idea of a â€Å"bashert† or ideal partner makes marriage especially important as it creates a bond between two souls, just like Adam and Eve, fulfilling God’s will. Once unity between woman and man is achieved, a married couple are able to carry out the next mitzvah (125): â€Å"To have children with one’s wife† to fulfil God’s wish to â€Å"be fruitful and multiply† (Gen 1:28). Due to this law Jewish people see marriage as the only way of being able to have children, so in marriage, a Jew is able to adhere to two mitzvoth. To be Jewish one has to be born of a Jewish marriage; therefore, Jewish marriages are significant ensuring Judaism remains through generations due to procreation and the adherence of individuals marrying.

The Brownfield Problem Essay -- essays research papers fc

The Brownfield Problem Brownfields are abandoned, idled, or under-used industrial and commercial sites where expansion or redevelopment is complicated by real, or perceived environmental contamination that can add cost, time, and uncertainty to the redevelopment process. Throughout the country there are an estimated 450,000 brownfields. These vacant properties exist mostly in cities, serving no practical purpose, and act as both eyesores and environmental as well as economic pitfalls. The inner cities, where most brownfields exist, were once the only choice developers had in deciding where to build industry. However, since the birth of environmental laws and regulation, the redevelopment of these properties has become a complicated and often very costly procedure. This procedure causes many businesses and corporations to look outside of the inner cities and urban areas for locations to grow and develop. This trend not only leaves the inner cities vacant and economically useless, but also leads to urba n sprawl, a phenomenon that leads to the development of greenfields, or the pristine, undeveloped land outside the confines of massive urban areas. Many sites across the country that were once used for industrial, and/or, commercial use have been abandoned by the companies who used them. Some of these sites are contaminated; however, some of them are merely perceived as being contaminated. In those cases, the sites have been linked to big industry, or nearby sites. In the past, any such site has been avoided or ignored as a possibility for redevelopment. This situation is caused largely by federal and state environmental laws and court decisions that impose or imply potentially serious liability. The circumstances surrounding this uncertain liability has encouraged businesses to build in previously undeveloped and non-urban areas, that are referred to as greenfields, where they are confident that no previous industry has been active. A report from the General Accounting Office finds that: "As states and localities attempt to redevelop their abandoned industrial sites, they have faced a number of obstacles, including th e possibility of contamination and the associated liability for cleanup." This situation has lead to a number of far-reaching problems including social, economic, and enviro... ...ization to determine the extent of environmental contamination and the cost of removal or remediation. Then, funds should be set aside either from the Superfund Trust Fund or general revenues to provide resources to local governments to develop brownfield site inventories, site assessments, and brownfield redevelopment strategies, the main goal of which would be to attract private investment. EPA should expand their Brownfields Initiative to include funds for preparation and implementation of brownfield redevelopment strategies. Federal funds should be made available for the creation and capitalization of local revolving loan funds for local governments or the private sector to perform activities such as removal, remediation, and small business development at brownfield sites. HUD should provide resources to accelerate actual development, through leveraging private sector investment and other means, to move beyond cleanup and remediation. All agencies need to find ways to assist by providing resources that will aid in the redevelopment of brownfield sites. Bibliography: EPA Homepage Brownfields Inc. And work like a nigger, for a white mans meal uses enjambment. And work like a nigga conveys the low standard living for an Aboriginal using colloquial language, for a white mans meal portrays the high standard of living of a white Australian. Black hunted wallaby is a form of imagery, which is used to give the reader a better sense of the Australian fauna, and created a picture. Metaphors such as white-fella bunyip are used to further explain and add emphasis to the mellow feeling the poet is trying to evoke. We are going conveys the spirituality of the aborigines. The poem lists the many belongings of the aboriginal culture that makes up who they are. We are the old sacred memories, the law of the elders, and we are the wonder tales of dream time, the tribal legends told, are the metaphors used, it compares the Aborigines to the sacred things that define them, this conveys the strong connection between the Aboriginal people and their spirituality.
